Bio Food Pellets

A reef-safe biologically degradable polymer made by bacteria and free of oil products. A source of carbon for nitrate and phosphate reduction.
ReefX® Bio Food pellets are optimally sized and shaped for use in a fluidised reactor to encourage aerobic growth of bacteria that consume the pellets along with nitrogen and phosphorus from the water as nitrate and phosphate.

First use: add 50ml/100 litres of water
After 1-2 months: increase to a maximum of 250ml/100 litres

Top up as needed when the bacteria reduce the pellets. If you add too many pellets at once you may notice cloudy water as the bacterial population increases rapidly. This can reduce oxygen and strip nutrients too quickly harming corals, but will clear on its own after a few days.

The pellets should be fluidised to produce a gentle tumbling effect. DO NOT over-fluidise or the bacteria will struggle to colonise. Direct the treated water towards a skimmer to remove the waste. You can also place the pellets in a filter bag in a high flow area but that may require more frequent cleaning to remove detritus.
